Been there!! Here's my advice, take it or leave it, I to am in my 40's, but I live in so Cal. and theres alot of long haired girls here. So, if her hair is real nice, then date her, but, if u go to gym and take care of yourlself like I do, then it wont last. do her as long as u can, and then move on when something better comes along. If that sounds shallow or mean, sorry, it's just the way it is. I've dated girls with long hair that werent that hot, just because of there long hair, but im talking past bra, lower like the belt line, but they werent in good shape, and it didnt last. but it's still fun.....
