What´s wrong with the volume in the classic-length picture?

Look at both pictures closely. It´s still perfect volume at classic length - while at mid-back length it´s just spread out a little wider (which for reasons of gravity wouldn´t work with classic length anymore), and with visible gaps in between.

I wonder why this is supposed to be a close call?

My preference is absolutely clear. Classic length is an easy winner here. What a waste of beauty to have cut it to mid-back length!
