Browsing online i stumbled over this picture and my wife had hair like the one on the left when we started dating back in the 80s (yes, we are together for 40+ years now) before she decided to go long and stay like that. Thank you Heavy Metal! ^^

That style still was big turn on for me back then, because it was a lot of volume and even if it was a bit on the hard side outside due to hairspray and stuff, it felt good inside...
